Land of the Aussies!

Pastor Dino, Julio Melara, Lee Domingue, Kevin Mawae, Emily Morrow, and myself took a ten-day trip to the Hillsong Church conference in Sydney and it was spectacular! It was the Who’s Who of the Christian Zoo and I felt like a tiny amoeba in a sea of spiritual giants! Bishop T.D. Jakes, Jentzen Franklin, John Bevere, Louie Giglio, Israel Houghton, Steven Curtis Chaplin, Chris Tomlin, Joseph Prince, Ed Young, Jr., Darlene Zschech, Brian, Bobby and Joel Houston, Nick and Chris Caine, and Hillsong United were all there!!

We were joined by 33, 000 delegates representing 69 different countries around the globe. The conference was held at Olympic Park (the site of the 2000 Winter Olympic Games) and every square inch was utilized. Every day was jam-packed, starting with services at 9am and finishing at 11pm (with only a 30 minute break for lunch). It was non-stop, frantic, all over the place, little time to catch your breathe, and we squeezed every moment for all that is was worth. Lee did a break-out session on leadership out of his book, Pearls of the King. Pastor Dino was able to do a few sessions with Chris Caine and was part of a discussion panel covering social justice, poverty, and helping the oppressed. They both did an incredible job and made us all so proud.

I also got to attend a Rugby match with Kevin, Joel, Chris Tomlin, and Louie Giglio. Nick hooked us up with great tickets to go see the Australians battle the South Africans and it was awesome!!

The conference was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I learned a bunch, listened a lot, and hung out with great people. It made a huge impact on me and a lot was deposited into my spirit. This experience totally enlarged our hearts and our vision, as well as confirmed where we are as a church. Hillsong and HPC share a lot of the same language and the same spirit of excellence, which allows us to connect on many different levels. It was so cool to see what church can be like there, but we still absolutely love what we have here. There is really no place like home.
